A 7-day itinerary to discover the wonders of the Cilento Coast with your sailing boat
If you are looking for an authentic and little-known coastal area of Italy, the Cilento Coast in the southern part of Campania is your ideal destination for a sailing holiday. This fascinating stretch of coast, 100 km long, suspended between seas and mountains in the province of Salerno, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and offers unique and pristine landscapes with cliffs, caves, and secret beaches accessible only by boat, picturesque fishing villages, and important archaeological sites. Today, the Cilento Coast is a national park that protects its extraordinary natural beauty and biodiversity. Start your journey in Agropoli, a historically well-preserved village accessible through a magnificent 17th-century monumental gate. Acciaroli is a fishing village famous for its imposing Norman Tower, its historic port lively during the day, and beautiful beaches. Capo Palinuro is one of the most incredible spots on the Cilento coast. The cape, narrow and long, is a labyrinth of sea caves, white sandy coves, and stunning beaches like the Baia del Buon Dormire, the most evocative on the Cilento coast. Marina di Camerota, an oasis of tranquility by boat, will surprise you with its vitality: in summer, the town is lively with events and festivals of all kinds. Scario, one of the most beautiful villages in Campania overlooking the Gulf of Policastro, boasts a splendid beach, the Spiaggia dei Francesi. Finally, the “pearl of the Tyrrhenian,” Maratea, a romantic and lively village with breathtaking views, is a must-visit stop. Don’t miss the opportunity to discover an authentic and untouched coast, rich in white beaches with crystal-clear waters, ancient villages, and a culinary culture that will delight your palate.
Departure at 6 pm towards Agropoli, where you will moor to visit the picturesque historic center accessible through an impressive 17th-century monumental gate.
You will encounter a triumph of alleys, small houses carved into the rock, and steep staircases plunging into the blue sea below. An unmissable visit to the Angevin-Aragonese Castle and a relaxing walk along Lungomare San Marco.
Organize your morning with a comfortable transfer to visit the Archaeological Park of Paestum. In the afternoon, leaving Agropoli, sail towards Acciaroli, a typical stone-built village, passing by Punta Licosa, where you can take a refreshing swim and snorkel in crystal-clear, shallow waters.
In Acciaroli, you will also find a charming port to moor and explore the town. In the afternoon, enjoy a walk through the narrow streets of the village, admiring the Church of the Annunziata and the Norman Tower.
Depart in the morning for Capo Palinuro, one of the most beautiful destinations on the Cilento Coast. Here, you can circumnavigate the cape, passing very close to the coast safely, thanks to the absence of rocks, and admire the splendid surrounding coasts.
A must-stop is the Baia del Buon Dormire, an enchanting cove surrounded by lush green rocks overhanging the crystal-clear sea. If weather conditions permit, you can decide to spend the night anchored on this small beach with golden sands and emerald waters, considered one of the most evocative in the Cilento territory and Italy.
Spend your morning sailing towards Marina di Camerota or the Baia degli Infreschi, where you will find comfortable mooring buoys for your boat. In the evening, you can choose to dine onboard, enjoying a unique experience away from inhabited centers under the starry sky. If you opt to moor in port, you will be enchanted by the lively village, animated by an endless variety of shops and people. The heart of Marina di Camerota is Piazza di San Domenico, where concerts and shows enliven summer evenings.
Early in the morning, set sail for Scario, one of the most evocative towns in Campania overlooking the crystal-clear waters of the Gulf of Policastro. Here, you will find numerous bays, coves, and dream beaches, including the renowned Spiaggia dei Francesi.
Scario is a charming fishing village belonging to the municipality of San Giovanni a Piro, offering not only pristine, crystal-clear waters but also lush nature and abundant greenery typical of the Campania region. The main beaches, located along the Costa della Masseta, can only be reached by sea.
Don’t miss the chance to admire this magical place and enjoy the local hospitality.
On the sixth day of your boat holiday with Spartivento Charter, you will head to the most renowned tourist destination in Basilicata, Maratea: one of the region’s most popular spots, thanks to its sea caves, peaceful beaches, and lush mountains plunging into crystal waters.
Known as “the pearl of the Tyrrhenian,” Maratea is a romantic and authentic town. Here, you can indulge in exciting underwater activities such as snorkeling or diving to admire the diverse marine life. In the afternoon, take an excursion to the famous Christ the Redeemer statue, located on the top of Monte San Biagio, from which you can enjoy spectacular views of the Eolie Islands.
The evening can be spent in the charming fishing village of Maratea, also known as “The city of 44 churches” due to the numerous churches, hermitages, chapels, and monasteries scattered throughout the town and surrounding area.
The return journey to the base will start in the morning, but not before a pleasant swim stop at Spiaggia del Buon Dormire along the route. During the trip, you will admire the suggestive Capo Palinuro before heading towards Punta Licosa and finally Marina di Arechi, about 18 miles away. Our staff will be ready to welcome you at 5 pm for check-out.
The following day, disembarkation is scheduled for 8:00 am.
