Departure from the hotel in the afternoon for Paestum.
Visit to the Greco-Roman archaeological area, the ancient Poseidonia, with a guide.
The archaeological area is included within a wall of about 5 km that rises between the sea and the hill of Capaccio that preserves three examples of Doric temples.
The Basilica (ca 530 BC) is the oldest and most imposing, the Temple of Ceres (end of the 6th century BC) the most important monument of the entire area, the Temple of Neptune (mid-5th century BC) considered the most perfect of temple architecture in Italy and Greece.
The National Archaeological Museum collects exceptional finds from prehistoric furnishings to funerary objects. Of extraordinary interest are the painted tomb slabs, the most famous of which is the Toma del Tuffatore (c.a 480 BC).
At the end of the visit, it will be pleasant to stop to sip an aperitif while still admiring the majesty of the temples and tasting some local delicacies. The enchanted scenery of such beauty will be a memory that you will take with you as a precious souvenir.
