Holy Mass at the Sanctuary of Gethsemane

Continuing towards the Sanctuary of Gethsemane is located on a hill, in a panoramic position. From the top of the mountain you can admire the green Sele plain with fertile agricultural fields and the entire Cilento sea. The religious complex stands on the hill, among olive groves, the Sanctuary has an entrance on a garden full of plants and side paths. The entrance is on the side, it opens into a large circular room where in a central position you can admire the charm of the marble statue depicting Jesus lying in prayer and in agony at the foot of the mountain, in Gethsemane. An atmosphere that relaxes the pilgrim to meditation and absolute prayer.
The Sanctuary was founded in 1959 by Prof. Luigi GEDDA, who stopped for the recitation of the office of the Madonna on the edge of the Cilento hills, which overlook the vast Pianura del Sele with a magnificent panoramic view of the Gulf of Salerno. Inspired by nature and eager to create a center of spirituality for the churches of southern Italy, he arrived in Rome and asked Dr. Mario Cristallini and Arch. Ildo Avetta, author of the Gethsemane of northern Italy, to go there to see if it was possible to realize the program he had come up with. The goal was to create in the South a spiritual and socio-cultural structure available to the faithful, for prayer and meditation.
